EXPO
Center (Hazel and J.W. Ruby Community Center)
This 53,000 square foot facility is the largest indoor
area for exposition-type activities between Charleston
and Pittsburgh. It consists of a 48,600 sf main hall,
with a supporting structure of 5,250 sf for storage,
administrative offices, restrooms, lobby, and a warming
kitchen. The facility provides over one acre of indoor
space for trade shows, dinners, sporting events and
rentals for private parties, reunions, or receptions.
The main hall can seat up to 4,500 persons, has room
for 220 10'x10' booths, or four regulation size basketball
courts. Funding for the construction of this facility
was from the Hazel Ruby McQuain Charitable Trust.
Athletic
Field Complex and Special Events Area
With approximately 10 acres of multi-purpose grass fields
and over 4 acres of parking, the Athletic Field and
Special Events Area provides enough field space for
approximately four sports fields, designed to host soccer,
rugby, lacrosse and football, as well as ample space
for large community gatherings, fairs and festivals.
It has hosted events upwards of 70,000 people. There
is electricity to the site for outdoor vendors.
Campground
People attending large events have asked for camping.
Currently, primitive camping is available. There are
not shower facilities or hookups.
Anker
Fields
The Anker Fields Complex, comprised of two baseball
and two softball fields, is home to several area school
teams and community-sponsored youth teams, hosting dozens
of tournaments, clinics and camps throughout the spring
and summer.
Miracle
Sports Complex and Miracle Field
The Miracle Sports Complex provides organized baseball
programs for children with physical and developmental
disabilities. The field has a custom-designed rubber
surface covering both the outfield as well as the infield
that allows easy access for wheelchairs and walking
devices. The bases are flat to the ground to prevent
falls
Horseshoe
Courts
The Mylan Park Horseshoe Pitching Facility consists
of 24 professional class lighted pitching courts.
Equestrian
Center
The Equestrian Center includes two outdoor show rings,
warm up arena and a pavilion/ grandstand with show office
concession area, and restrooms.
Pro
Performance RX Health Club and Pro Medical Rehabilitation
Clinic
The Pro Performance RX and Pro Medical Rehabilitation
indoor sports-specific training center has a 270' by
180' Indoor FieldTurf Arena. This facility also includes
a 28,000 sq. ft. strength and conditioning center. Offering
state-of-the-art sports specific training, this facility
also offers leagues, camps and clinics with an emphasis
on a total training approach to meet individual training
goals.
Mylan
Park Elementary School
This modern school provides a variety of educational
opportunities for 487 students in grades K through 5.
Cross
Country Course
This 3.5 mile challenging cross country course covers
a variety of terrain throughout Mylan Park, and is used
by many of the middle school and high school track teams.
Girl
Scouts
The Girl Scout field office provides service and support
to Girl Scout troops in 29 counties throughout West
Virginia, Ohio and Maryland.
Stepping
Stones: Recreation Center for People with Disabilities
A modern 11,000 square foot facility that includes activity
areas, a gymnasium, an outdoor therapy pool, and office
space is home to Stepping Stones. This non-profit organization
is dedicated to helping people with disabilities achieve
their maximum level of independence through innovative
recreation and personal programs.
PACE
Enterprises
PACE Enterprises' mission is to help people with disabilities
find great jobs. Founded in 1972, it is a nonprofit
corporation that places people in jobs like administration,
grounds & janitorial, hospitality, and light assembly.
PACE operates a secure document destruction (shredding)
service that destroys confidential papers for customers.
The Beehive Cafe and Boxed Lunch Company, also a part
of PACE, serves boxed lunches in the Greater Morgantown
Area.
Alternative
Learning Center
The Alternative Learning Center serves the needs of
At-risk high school age students. Academic goals include
earning required credits for graduation or GED instruction.
Monongalia
County Schools Transportation Center
This 12,000 square foot facility provides a central
repair and maintenance area for nearly 100 school busses.
Bus drivers are also trained at this location.
Big
Brothers / Big Sisters
Big Brothers Big Sisters of North Central West Virginia
is committed to providing children with positive caring
adult mentors. Through professionally managed one-to-one
relationships with caring adult volunteers, children
are able to build lasting friendships that enhance their
emotional, social, and recreational well-being.
